When they arrived and identified a vehicle with its occupants inside, police say a chase ensued after they escaped the scene on foot.

However, SPS officers, assisted by Delta Police Department officers, arrested the three suspects shortly after near 28th Avenue and 140 Street.

Police say they attempted to flee the scene in a rideshare vehicle.

Additionally, the Surrey Fire Services (SFS) responded to the scene because a small fire was reportedly burning on the property.

Crews were able to put out the fire before it caused any damage to the building, yet it was damaged by the gunshots.

Police say people were inside the residence when the incident occurred, but no injuries were reported.

The SPS’s Major Crime Section is now investigating the shooting, which police say is likely connected to extortion.

While the three suspects remain in custody, no charges have been laid against them yet.

“No charges have yet been sworn at this early stage of the investigation, and investigators will be working to gather and analyze physical and digital evidence,” the SPS said in a written statement.

Investigators have also seized two vehicles.

Anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, or other information is urged to contact the SPS.
