The RCMP says it has arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting, along with a separate weapons offence, along the highway running through Osoyoos last month.

On Sept. 11, police responded to a reported assault with a weapon on Highway 97 close to Cavesson Way. Shortly after, they responded to a report of a shooting on Highway 97, close to the turnoff to Highway 5.

“Investigators believe the two events to be related to the same suspect, who was identified and was arrested the following day,” said Cpl. Brett Urano.

Cash James has been charged with weapons offences, assault with a weapon, and discharge of a firearm with intent to wound.

James remains in custody as he waits for a bail hearing.
