The North Vancouver RCMP says it is investigating an incident on Oct. 31 that involved an arson at a house.

Shortly after midnight, officers responded to reports of a structure fire at a home on Dollar Road near the Dollarton Highway.

“First responders arrived on scene and located a single-residence structure fire,” Mounties said.

“Firefighters quickly worked to control the blaze. The house sustained extensive damage, and the owners have since been displaced.”

Police say the house was empty at the time of the incident.

After gathering evidence in the neighbourhood, the RCMP found CCTV footage that appears to show two people lighting what looks like a firework and throwing it into the house through an open window.

The video then shows flames coming from the residence.

“We’re relieved that no one was hurt, but the impact of this incident is still significant,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP.

“Someone’s home was destroyed, and this has deeply affected a family and their neighbours.”

Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident is asked to call police at 604-985-1311 and refer to file 25-23091.
