A man has been charged in relation to the homicide of a Langley woman who was last seen in October 2024.
Port Moody resident Trenton Henneberg was arrested Friday and has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in relation to the homicide of 30-year-old Chantelle Moore.
Moore was reported missing on Nov. 18, 2024, after her family had not heard from her for an extended period of time.
On Dec. 18, 2024, police announced the missing person investigation had turned over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) when information suggested her disappearance was suspicious and criminality was suspected.
“IHIT investigators worked in close partnership with the Langley RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) to establish a timeline of events leading up to Ms. Moore’s disappearance,” IHIT said.
“Based on evidence gathered and information learned, investigators, with assistance from the BC RCMP Tac Troop, executed searches at multiple locations across the province in attempts to locate Ms. Moore’s remains.”
Investigators believe Henneberg and Moore were known to each other, and they say it does not appear to have been a random incident.
“This is the kind of investigation that keeps us up at night,” said Sgt. Freda Fong.
“While the laying of charges is a significant milestone, there is still a lot of work ahead as the prosecution process begins. It has been an extremely difficult time for Chantelle’s parents, and we continue to offer them support throughout the court proceedings.”
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
