Mounties investigating after driver fatally strikes pedestrian in Burnaby

The Burnaby RCMP is asking for witnesses to come forward after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian on Monday evening.

Mounties say officers responded to the crash on Kingsway near Edmonds Street shortly after 7 p.m.

They’re not releasing many details, but police say the driver was travelling eastbound and confirmed the pedestrian died as a result of their injuries.

“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and has cooperated with the investigation,” said a statement by the RCMP Wednesday morning.

Now, criminal collision investigators are appealing to the public for help.

“If you were in the area between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., our investigators would like to speak to you,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj.
