A 28-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Toronto early Wednesday morning.
Toronto police say the collision happened around 12:30 a.m. in the Sherbourne Street and Shuter Street area.
Authorities said a 43-year-old man was driving a Ford Fusion in the southbound lanes of Sherbourne Street when he struck the man, who was laying on the road.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police. Traffic Services are now investigating the incident.
There were road closures in the area, but those have since been lifted.
