The province’s police watchdog is investigating an early morning multi-vehicle crash in Scarborough that sent a 14-year-old driver to the hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit says just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Toronto police began to pursue a driver for speeding.
“There was a collision involving the driver and another vehicle at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and Kingston Road in Scarborough,” the SIU said in a brief statement.
A 14-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Three occupants in the second vehicle were not seriously injured, according to the SIU.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
