The Toronto Police Service (TPS) have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting aboard a GO bus in North York.

Investigators say the shooting occurred aboard a bus at the Yorkdale GO bus terminal around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics told CityNews they responded to the scene but did not transport anyone to the hospital.

Det. Sgt. Jason Davis of the Homicide Unit said officers were able to track down the suspect at the nearby subway station, where he was taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered.

Investigators say they are not looking for any other suspects. No other details have been released, including the age of the victim.

It’s the first homicide of 2026, authorities have since confirmed.

Subway service between Wilson and Lawrence West stations was suspended for more than three hours as police investigated the shooting. Service resumed just after 10:30 p.m.
