Toronto police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl riding an e-bike was struck and seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in North York.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday near Bayview Avenue and Heathcote Avenue, south of Highway 401. Police say the girl was riding her e-bike northbound on Bayview when she was hit by the driver of a grey SUV that was making a left turn from Heathcote onto southbound Bayview.
The teen suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. Officers noted she was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle will have visible damage to its front end. The driver has not been located, and police have not recovered the SUV.
The intersection was closed for several hours overnight as members of the Traffic Services unit examined the scene.
Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area, including drivers with dashcam footage, to come forward.
