Without Captain Marie-Philip Poulin, the Canada women’s hockey team lost 5-0 to the U.S., giving them a 2-1 record heading into their final round robin game on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Short Track Mixed Team picked up Canada’s first silver medal.

Megan Oldham picked up Canada’s second medal, another bronze, in Women’s Freeski Slopestyle while the Women’s Ice Hockey team beat Czechia 5-1 in their second match-up of the games. Canadian captain Marie Phillip-Poulin left the game with a lower-body injury. It was not immediately known if the injury would affect her ability to play in their game Tuesday against the U.S.

- Mixed Doubles: Canada beat Switzerland 8-4 in round robin but will not advance to the playoffs. The team ended with four wins and five losses.

Speedskater Valérie Maltais is the first Canadian to reach the podium at the Milan Cortina Games, winning a bronze medal in speed skating while Canadian athletes posted top 10 finishes in Alpine Skiing and Snowboard. Meanwhile, the Canadian women’s hockey team began defence of its gold medal with a win.

The Opening Ceremonies officially kicked off the 2026 Winter Games on Friday. Moguls skier Mikael Kingsbury and ski-cross star Marielle Thompson held Canada’s flag in Livigno during one of three athlete parades held simultaneously with the event at the Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium. Approximately 135 of the 206 Canadian athletes competing joined them across all four locations. Prior to the Opening Ceremonies, Canada’s figure skating mixed team competed in three of the four events held in qualifications and currently sits fifth overal,l while Canada lost its first mixed doubles curling event to the United States.

Canada’s game against Finland scheduled for Thursday was postponed because of norovirus cases affecting the Finnish team. Canada beat both Norway and Italy in mixed double curling while Francis Jobin qualified in sixth place for the Snowboard Big Air final.
