Authorities are investigating a fatal fire in Oshawa that left one child dead and two people injured on Saturday.
Durham Regional Police Acting Staff Sgt. Joanne McCabe says officers responded to a call about unknown trouble and a possible vehicle fire just after 2 p.m. at 309 Elgin Street West, near Nipigon Street and Park Road North.
McCabe said they arrived within three minutes and found a trailer fully engulfed in flames.
She said a child was found dead inside the trailer, and two adults were taken to a local hospital with third-degree burns and smoke inhalation.
Two firefighters were also injured during the blaze and were treated at the scene for minor burns.
Ontario’s fire marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.
