
Ottawa police took a Kitchener man into custody and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of a Brantford man.
Officers were sent to a west Ottawa community after reports of a stabbing on Wednesday around 7:10 p.m. When they arrived they found a man in life-threatening condition.
In an update, Ottawa police identified the victim as Shawn Challis-Eatough, 28, of Brantford.
Officers started life-saving measures before paramedics arrived. He was transported to hospital after paramedics stabilized him, where he died of his injuries.
Ottawa police charged Anthony Meredith, 19, of Kitchener and Steve Vivian, 41, of Ottawa with second-degree murder.
The accused appeared in court Jan. 29.
A press release notes that a 41-year-old Ottawa woman was also arrested on Thursday afternoon in relation to the investigation.
Challis-Eatough’s death is the first homicide of 2026 in the nation’s capital.
