All seven puppies mentioned in an urgent appeal from the Guelph Humane Society have not only survived, some are already in living in a foster home.
Eleven puppies were brought into the centre on Hanlon Creek Boulevard late last week. Only seven made it through the weekend.
Those remaining seven pups were just “barely hanging on,” according to GHS officials.
“Eleven tiny puppies were brought to the Guelph Humane Society, weak, dehydrated, and suffering. Tragically, four had already died,” said the GHS.
GHS Executive Director, Lisa Veit, said in a social media video, posted on Wednesday, that all seven survived. Four went to foster homes on Tuesday, and the other three will soon be out of medical care.
Parvovirus is deadly for young, unvaccinated canines, with treatment including not only IV fluids but also constant monitoring in the days and weeks to come.
The GHS was asking for any and all donations to help, and Veit said in her video that enough support came in to pay for all the immediate and ongoing care for the pups.
