The Kitchener Rangers are set for a battle for supremacy at the top of the Western Conference on Saturday night when the Windsor Spitfires come to town.

Heading into Friday night’s action, only two points separate the first-placed Spitfires from the third-placed Flint Firebirds, with the Rangers sandwiched in the middle of the two.

The Blueshirts fell in overtime to the Owen Sound Attack in a mid-week game on Wednesday, 3-2 the final score from The Bayshore.

The Spitfires were victorious over the North Bay Battalion on Thursday, 4-3, the final. Those points lifted the Spitfires over the Rangers for first place in the Western Conference.

If the Rangers can win or force overtime on Friday, they’ll have picked up points in every game during the month of January.

Rangers forward Christian Humphreys is amongst the hottest scorers in the league heading into Friday’s contest, having picked up points in each of his last 13 games.

After Friday, the Rangers take the weekend off before heading to Forrest City for a meeting with the London Knights on Wednesday.

You can hear Friday’s game on 570 NewsRadio starting at 6:30 p.m.
