One man went to hospital after what police called a targeted shooting in downtown Kitchener, with the suspect still at large.

Officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service were called out to the King Street East and Scott Street area, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Two police cruisers were still there in a small parking lot on Scott until 4, Thursday morning.

Police said officers found a 30-year-old Kitchener man who had been shot.

He was sent to hospital with non-life threatening gun shot wounds.

Investigators believe the incident is targeted. But they added that the identity of the suspect is still unknown, with no arrests made.

For now, police want to hear from any witnesses, especially anyone with video of what happened.
