The driver of a transport truck is facing impaired-related charges after their vehicle overturned into a ditch in North Dumfries.

Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Dickie Settlement Road near Whistle Bare Road around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Investigators determined the truck driver lost control, left the roadway, and wound up in a ditch while blocking both lanes of traffic.

There were no injuries reported and police closed part of Dickie Settlement Road for several hours for their investigation.

The transport truck driver, a 64-year-old Kitchener man, has been charged with impaired operation and dangerous operation offences.

The incident came after the Waterloo Regional Police Service reported a concerning uptick in impaired driving-related calls over the weekend.
