A Kitchener delivery driver is now facing charges after stealing a package he had just dropped off in Guelph.

It was back in mid-October when police in the Royal City say they were contacted by a victim saying their package had been stolen.

Officials said that the victim ordered a pair of pants online, and had them successfully delivered to her condo building with a confirmation of the successful delivery.

Police report that the delivery driver who dropped off the package took a picture of the goods inside the building’s parcel locker, but when the victim went to retrieve those newly ordered pants, the package was no longer there.

After reviewing security video with the condo building’s manager, police said footage showed the delivery driver put the package in the locker, snapped a delivery confirmation photo before stealing the package and carrying it out of the building.

The 28-year-old Kitchener man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with theft under $5,000.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 23.
