
Grand River Transit reports that ION train service has been restored – after a Thursday morning disruption due to a collision in Kitchener.
It was around 9:20 a.m. when the region’s transit service provider shared word of that issue, noting that trains were not running between Kitchener Market Station and Mill Station.
Around the same time, callers to the 570 NewsRadio traffic line reported a crash between an ION train and a vehicle in the area of Borden Avenue South and Courtland Avenue East in Kitchener.
Waterloo Regional Police confirmed that collision, with no injuries reported and no road closures put in place as a result. It’s unclear if any charges will be laid as a result of the crash.
Just after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Grand River Transit shared the news that the ION service disruption between Conestoga Station and Fairway Station had ended, with light rail service set to return to its usual schedule.
