An elderly woman from Cambridge is now facing a serious charge in connection with a crash in November.

It was on Nov 20. around noon when Waterloo regional police responded to the scene of a pedestrian-involved crash in the Langs Drive and Industrial Road area of Cambridge.

A 34-year-old Cambridge woman was struck by a vehicle in that crash, taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Providing an update on Friday police said the driver of the involved vehicle, a 75-year-old Cambridge woman, has since been charged with careless driving causing death.

She’s scheduled to appear in court in Kitchener in early February.

This update comes after a three-year-old was hit and killed by a vehicle in Cambridge, and the adult with her was seriously injured.

In response to both deaths, Mayor Jan Liggett said the pain people around this time of year is “unfathomable.”

“Our community is a loving one and grieves today at these needless losses of a small child yesterday and a young mother three weeks ago. We additionally think about the first responders, passersby and others witnessing these horrific events, keeping them in our hearts as well,” she said in the statement.
