A fire that broke out in a home’s basement in Cambridge is not considered suspicious.

Crews responded to the reported residential fire on Weaver Street around 7 a.m. Thursday.

Flames were discovered in the basement and quickly knocked down.

Officials say working smoke alarms alerted the home’s occupants, although two in the lower unit were assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital.

The extent of the damage from the fire has not yet been determined.

While the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office was notified, an official with the Cambridge Fire Department says the fire is not considered suspicious.
