Regional police have laid multiple charges against a woman in connection with the theft of a vehicle and a collision involving a police cruiser earlier this week.

On Monday at roughly 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen truck from a home on Fenwick Street.

Police said less than an hour later, officers found the truck on Chebucto Road and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver did not stop and struck a marked police vehicle, and as they continued to flee, they struck another responding police vehicle and then struck a third vehicle, which was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Quinpool Road.

According to HRP, at roughly 7:40 a.m., officers found and arrested the driver, with help from the K9 unit.

Police said 33-year-old Nirica West appeared in Halifax provincial court on Tuesday to face charges of:

  • Break and enter with intent to commit offence
  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Flight from peace officer-failure to stop motor vehicle while being pursued
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
  • Theft from motor vehicle under $5000.00
  • Failure stop after an accident
