
Police in Halifax have caught up with a suspect wanted for several weapons-related offences going back nearly six years.
In a release, the RCMP says officers from the agency’s Street Crime Enforcement Unit along with Halifax Regional Police officers tracked down, Shawn Thomas Peters, who was wanted for a significant list of firearm offences.
Arrested on Wednesday afternoon at a residence on Maple Drive, police say officers also found and seized a loaded handgun, a second handgun with three prohibited magazines, a rifle, and different types of ammunition.
The 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Peters is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court as he sees dozens more charges filed against him ranging from three counts of unsafe handling of a firearm to six counts of unauhthorized possession of a prohibited device, among other charges.
He remains in custody pending the court appearance, set for February 25.
