A Lake Loon man is facing a long list of charges, including attempted murder, after shots were fired in East Preston on Wednesday.

The RCMP said officers responded to reports of shots fired at a vehicle on Highway 7 just before 8 a.m.

A woman was driving when a man got out of his vehicle and fire shots toward her.

She was not hurt, and police say the two are known to each other, calling this a case of intimate partner violence.

Police said Colin Edward O’Malley, 42, of Lake Loon, is charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Discharging firearm with intent
  • Discharge firearm — recklessness
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of break-in instrument
  • Fail to comply with release order

Police said he was scheduled to appear in provincial court on Friday.
