Halifax police charge woman after stealing a fire truck

Regional police have charged a woman for stealing a fire truck on Monday morning.

At roughly 5:10 a.m., Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a fire alarm at a building on Almon Street and while on scene, a woman got into the fire truck and drove away.

Police said officers responded at roughly 5:50 a.m., and found the unoccupied fire truck at the intersection of Clifton and Charles streets.

Officers later found and arrested the suspect on Gottingen Street.

There were no physical injuries reported and no reports of property damage.

Julia Elvena King, 28, appeared in Halifax provincial court on Monday to face the following a slew of charges including assaulting a peace officer, mischief, operation of a conveyance while impaired to any degree by alcohol or drugs or combination of both and theft over $5000, among others.
