Two children are dead, and another man and child are injured after a boating incident in western Nova Scotia.

On Saturday evening, RCMP responded to calls of a boater in distress on Lake Rossignol, near West Caledonia.

When officers arrived, they found one man and three children were in the boat when it overturned around 4:56 p.m.

Officials used a search-and-rescue helicopter to find all four boaters, and transported them to hospital.

Two of the children died as a result of their injuries.

A 45-year-old man from Fall River, and one child, have non-life-threatening injuries.
