Crews responded to a house fire in southwest Calgary early Thursday afternoon.
The call came in at approximately 1:50 p.m. after multiple bystanders reported smoke rising from a single‑storey home along 45 Street SW near 8 Avenue SW.
The first firefighters arrived and entered the house through a window to begin a search, while the next engine pulled a hose line to fight the flames. Crews eventually forced entry through the front door to advance the hose line.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control quickly.
According to the Calgary Fire Department (CFD), the fire started in the living room and was contained to the contents inside the home, preventing structural spread.
No one was inside at the time.
There is no word on the cause of the fire. A fire investigator remains on scene along with Calgary police.
