A foggy Friday morning in Calgary has turned into a snowy one.
Snow started to fall in the city’s downtown core around 8:30 a.m., when flakes that started in the north began to move south.
It all started as fog — with an advisory from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) saying visibility was poor.
It did also warn of rain or snow with the possibility of freezing rain.
The good news, according to 660 NewsRadio meteorologist Kevin Stanfield, is that it isn’t going to last long.
“Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone, and as we enter the 9 o’clock hour, we can expect most of that to fully back away,” he explained. “Our high today hits 3 C, so any area that caught a new coat will likely see that melt off too.”
Drivers are advised to use caution on the roads.
