An undisclosed police incident briefly forced the closure of the SFU campus on Burnaby Mountain Thursday afternoon.

The university says the roadway to campus was closed around 12:30 p.m. and police were on scene investigating, “due to an incident affecting the university.”

An alert apparently sent by the university’s notification app described the incident as an “active threat (bomb).”

Images from CCTV cameras at the intersection of Gaglardi Way and University Drive showed police blocking the road and diverting traffic.

The road reopened before 2 p.m.

The university says there is “no danger to the campus community.”

For the time, SFU was asking people to avoid the area and follow the directions of emergency responders.

Bus service up the mountain was suspended, according to TransLink.

1130 NewsRadio has reached out to the RCMP and SFU for more information.

This is a developing story. More to come.
