Mounties in Richmond say the suspect arrested in connection to an alleged assault with a weapon was known to the victim.
Officers were called to a parkade close to CF Richmond Centre on No. 3 Road around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
“Richmond RCMP received the call from an on-duty security guard who heard the commotion and intervened,” police said.
“Richmond RCMP frontline officers quickly arrived on-scene and arrested the suspect without further incident.”
The victim was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
RCMP originally said it was a stranger assault but now states the victim and suspect are known to each other.
As of Friday, the victim is still recovering in hospital. The suspect remains in police custody.
Police say there is no threat to public safety.
