Places to celebrate Canada Day across the Lower Mainland

This July 1, you have many options to celebrate Canada Day across the Lower Mainland. 

Whether you want to see fireworks, listen to live-music, treat yourself with delicacies from various food-trucks, or welcome new citizens to the nation, the events in the Lower Mainland provide it all.

The City of Surrey hosts a celebration with family entertainment, indigenous programming, beer garden, food trucks, and an amusement park with classic rides. 

Fireworks will conclude the festivities at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in the Cloverdale neighbourhood. It starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. 

The Town Centre Park in Coquitlam will be offering a diverse array of entertainment, vibrant multicultural performances, and a spectacular fireworks display. The program starts at 12 p.m. and wraps up after the fireworks at 10 p.m. 

Maple Ridge celebrates Canada Day in the Memorial Peace Park with live music and dance performances, food trucks, a climbing rock wall, interactive cultural dance lessons, princess and prince performances, a magician performance, and mini golf. The event starts at 12 p.m. and ends around 5 p.m. 

Pitt Meadows celebrate Canada Day at Spirit Square on Harris Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The main celebration will feature a ‘dog show and sniffing competition’, a shine car show, a watermelon-eating contest. 

The city of Burnaby celebrates Canada on multiple locations in the city. While activities at Edmonds Plaza and Park go from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., The ‘StreetFest on Central’ starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends with fireworks in Central Park at 10:15 p.m. 

Both will feature various live-musical performances, food trucks, and a family zone with kids’ entertainment and activities.  

In Port Coquitlam festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. for the Fishing Derby at Lions Park, at 9:30 a.m. at the Community Centre and at 1 p.m. in Castle Park.

You will be able to see live-music performances by Canadian rock band Trooper and country music star Aaron Pritchett. Food trucks, a beverage garden, local marketplace, and family activities will also be there for your entertainment. Fireworks will mark the end of Canada Day at around 10:20 p.m. 

The city of Delta invites everyone to celebrate Canada Day at Diefenbaker Park, Kirkland House, and Chalmers Park. The festivities will start with cake cutting and official ceremonies at Diefenbaker Park at 10 a.m. Kirkland House will host activities for children from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

A parade will start at around 3 p.m. at Chalmers Park, followed by official ceremonies, dance and live-music performances, and fireworks at 10:00 p.m. 

New Westminster opens the gates of Queen’s Park at 1:00 p.m. Live entertainment, food trucks, family friendly activities, a beer garden, a bike valet, a temporary tattoo station, mini golf, and an indigenous youth art exhibition are waiting for you. The festivities will conclude around 8 p.m. and it is free for everyone. 

White Rock celebrates Canada Day by at the Bay Memorial Park and West Beach from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Live-music performances will be opened by Richard Tichelman & Band and later headlined by Colin Wiebe and his band. The venue will have a kid’s zone with facepainting, twisted balloons, and arts and crafts. Fireworks will be going off from the water at around 10:15 p.m. 

The township of Langley has prepared a Family-friendly fun event at McLeod Athletic Park, starting at 2:00 p.m. and ending around 10:30 p.m. after a drone light show. Food trucks, a kid’s zone featuring with mini golf and a climbing wall will be set up too. Free shuttles will be running from KPU Langley campus McLeod Athletic Park.  

A Parade, starting at 11:00 a.m. and proceeding down South Fraser Way from Bourquin Crescent, will kick off Canada Day in Abbotsford. After ending at W.J. Mouat Secondary School on Mouat Drive, festivities will continue at the Exhibition Park from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring a family festival, food trucks, and live music-performances on the Canada Day Main Stage. At 10 p.m., fireworks will conclude the festivities in Abbotsford as well.  

Steveston celebrates ‘Canada’s biggest little birthday party’ Steveston Salmon Festival returns for its 78th anniversary on Canada Day. You can look forward to a parade, live music on four stages, and family-friendly activities. A highlight will be the Salmon Bake, a barbecued salmon fillet that’s a true Steveston favorite. The event starts at 12 p.m. and end at around 7:30 p.m. 

Starting from 5 p.m., you can enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, and a kids zone at Chilliwack’s Exhibition Field. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Chilliwack Museum hosts an interactive, memory workshop. Participants will have the chance to create a semi-permanent exhibition set to open in late 2025. Canada Day in Chilliwack will end with a Drone Show.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can celebrate Canada Day at the Shipyards in North Vancouver with live music, a kid’s playing area, a splash park, food trucks, and a beer garden. As a highlight at the end of the festivities, the Nade Band of the Royal Canadian Navy will perform at the Shipyards. 

Canada Place in Vancouver will host ‘Canada Together’ for the 39th time. The event is collaboratively planned with the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. This year’s festivities will feature live music across multiple stages, a citizenship ceremony welcoming 30 new Canadians, and a dedicated kid’s zone. You can discover the new Indigenous Marketplace, and enjoy a variety of performers, exhibitors, and food trucks. The event will start at 11 a.m. and finish at 6 p.m.
