The Penticton RCMP says it is investigating a fatal collision at the GranFondo event Sunday.

Police say the crash on White Lake Road near St. Andrews Drive in Penticton involved a motor vehicle and cyclists participating in the event.

“Tragically, one cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Const. Kelly Brett said.

“Two additional cyclists sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.”

The road has been closed while police investigate. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes.

As of 3:15 p.m., the road remains closed. Police say updates will be posted on the DriveBC website.
