1 air-lifted to hospital after Maple Ridge crash involving train

One person was hospitalized after a crash involving a train near Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge Tuesday morning.

Callers to 1130 NewsRadio first reported the crash, described by DriveBC as a “railway incident,” around 10 a.m.

BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported by air ambulance to hospital in critical condition. RCMP identified that patient as the male driver of the truck.

CPKC confirmed there were no injuries to the crew aboard the train.

Lougheed Highway between 272 Street and 287 Street was closed for close to two hours.

Drive BC announced it had been cleared in both directions around 12:10 p.m.

The incident is under investigation.
