1 dead after single-vehicle crash along Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge

One person is dead following a crash that closed parts of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge Friday morning.

BC Emergency Health Services says it was first called to the scene at the intersection of 240 Street around 3 a.m. Mounties have confirmed to 1130 NewsRadio that the crash only involved a single vehicle, and one person is dead.

The highway was closed to eastbound traffic between 287 Street and Haney Bypass for several hours into the morning.

“The Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) were called out to assist with the investigation,” the Ridge Meadows RCMP said.

Images from the scene show a badly damaged sedan up against a traffic light pole.



Police are seeking witnesses, dashcam footage or CCTV video from the area. If you have information to share, you’re asked to please contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP directly at 604-463-6251.

Single lanes reopened in both directions on Lougheed Highway around 11 a.m. Around 12:30 p.m., DriveBC announced that all lanes had reopened.

240 Street was also closed between River Road and Hill Avenue.
