The Vancouver Police Department is urging the driver involved and witnesses to a hit-and-run last week to come forward.

According to the VPD, a 70-year-old woman was crossing Grandview Highway at Slocan Street just before 5:30 p.m. on July 11 when she was struck by a grey SUV.

“The driver of the SUV did not stop at the scene of the collision, but rather continued driving eastbound on Grandview Highway,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement on Friday.

She adds that police believe there were multiple bystanders who “attempted to chase after the vehicle.”

“Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision. We also want to speak to the driver of the grey SUV to determine what circumstances led up to the incident,” Visintin explained.

The victim was taken to hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, she adds.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact the VPD at 604-717-3012.
