Some residents in North Delta had an unusual early Good Friday morning after hearing gunshots around 2:50 a.m.

The Delta Police Department (DPD) says that officers responded to reports of shots being fired into a residence on 92a Avenue near Hardy Road.

“DPD officers arrived on scene and located shell casings and confirmed shots had been fired into a vacant basement suite,” police said.

They add that no injuries were reported as the residents were in the upper portion of the building during the time of the shooting.

Investigators say that they believe the incident “appears to be targeted.”

“However, it does not appear to be extortion-related,” DPD said.

An investigation is now ongoing, and officers are asking witnesses to contact police AT 604-946-4444.
