
Two women are in hospital with broken bones after a hit-and-run in Burnaby on Thursday night.
The Burnaby RCMP says the victims, a 73-year-old and an 85-year-old, are in serious condition.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO 1130 NEWSRADIO VANCOUVER LIVE!Cpl. Mike Kalanj tells 1130 NewsRadio that police were called after reports of the incident at Union Street and Willingdon Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.
According to Kalanj, the suspect and vehicle did not stay at the scene.
“I will say this, everything I’ve heard from this investigation, our two victims were in a crosswalk, walking across the street. It wasn’t pitch black or dark out. It was 9:30 in the evening,” he said.
“Police have spoken to witnesses, continue to canvass for CCTV and are asking any witnesses that have not spoken to police to please come forward,” he said.
More information, such as a suspect and suspect vehicle descriptions, will be released soon, Kalanj says.
