Lots of venues are hosting ticketed events like high teas for Mother’s Day including Casa Loma, Ripley’s Aquarium, The Fairmount Royal York, Reid’s Distillery and The Old Mill Toronto.

Mother’s Day at the Toronto Botanical Garden
Stroll through the Toronto Botanical Garden with you mother and spend the day surrounded by spring beauty. The garden oasis will play host to a Mother’s Day Marketplace that will feature over 50 local vendors.
There will be handcrafted goods and eco-conscious gifts to celebrate the moms in your life. It will run on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
SuperMom Walk/Run for Parkinsons
A five-kilometre walk/run supporting research, treatment and support for women living with Parkinson’s in Canada is happening this weekend on Mother’s Day.
Nearly half of the over 120,000 people with Parkinson’s are women, but according to organizers, research often focuses on a one-size-fits-all approach. The SuperMom walk/run has raise over $300,000 for women-specific Parkinson’s research, programs and services since it’s launch in 2023.
It’s happening Sunday at 9 a.m. at Downsview Park’s Orchard Pavilion. You can find more details here.
Toronto Tempo first game
The Toronto Tempo will make history with their first game Friday night at Coca-Cola Coliseum. They will play host to the Washington Mystics.

Toronto Artisan Market
Market season is officially upon us as the Toronto Artisan Market hosts their first of the season this weekend in Trinity Bellwoods Park.
On Sunday, artisans from across the city with showcase their goods in the park to celebrate Mother’s Day. It runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.
Sporting Life 10k
The annual Sporting Life 10k is happening this Sunday on Toronto streets.
The race will start at 7:30 a.m. at Yonge and Lawrence and there will be a new finish line this year.
Runners will finish on Front Street at Cherry Street and then make their way to Corktown Common for a post-run party.
The Sporting Life 10K has raised millions of dollars to support Campfire Circle, a charity that provides year-round programs for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
Meagan’s Hug
The annual Meagan’s Hug, renamed from Meagan’s Walk, is happening this weekend on Saturday. The event started in 2002 to raise money for paediatric brain tumour research.
Since it’s inaugural walk, it has grown to thousands of participants. This year, they will start at a new location, De La Salle College at 29 Oaklands Avenue, and walk five kilometres to The Hospital for Sick Children where participants form a hug around the hospital.
The walk begins at 10:15 a.m. and runs until 12:15 p.m.

Asian Heritage Month Celebration
Celebrate Asian Heritage Month with the annual event at Mel Lastman Square. It will feature over 70 Asian-owned businesses, on-stage live performances, and more in North York.
It will run from 12 to 9 p.m. on Saturday
Toronto FC vs. Inter Miami FC
One of the most hyped game of Toronto FCs season will be happening this weekend when Lionel Messi and Inter Miami FC come to town.
It will be the largest crowd in history with just under 45,000 tickets distributed.
The match kicks off at 1 p.m. at BMO Field. Tickets are still available, but are very limited at this point.
TTC/GO closures
Line 2 Saturday closure
Subway service on Line 2 between Kipling to Jane stations will be replaced by shuttle buses starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9 due to planned signal work.
Regular subway service will resume on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Don Valley Parkway closure
From 11 p.m. on Friday, May 8, until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 11, the DVP will be closed from Highway 401 to the Jarvis Street ramp on the Gardiner for maintenance work.
Gardiner Expressway – British Columbia Road / Lake Shore Boulevard on-ramp
From 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, to approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, the British Columbia Road / Lake Shore Boulevard on-ramp to the Gardiner Expressway will be closed to complete repairs to a collapsed catch basin identified during the recent maintenance closure. The extent of the damage required further assessment, design planning and a specialized contractor, which could not be addressed within the timeframe of the weekend maintenance closure.
Rehabilitation of Eastern/Adelaide Bridges project
Beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m. until Monday, May 11, at 5 a.m., one westbound lane will be closed on Eastern Avenue over the Don Valley Parkway.
Elizabeth Street
From 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, Elizabeth Street will be closed from Gerrard Street West to Elm Street.
Lake Shore Boulevard to support Gardiner Expressway repairs
From 10:30 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. tomorrow, and nightly from Monday, May 11, to Friday, May 15, two westbound and two eastbound lanes will be closed between Parliament Street to Cherry Street.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays until Thursday, May 30, one lane will be closed on Lake Shore Boulevard westbound between Yonge Street and Raptors Way.
From 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on weekdays until May 30, one or two lanes will be closed on Lake Shore Boulevard westbound between Yonge Street and Raptors Way.
The Sporting Life 10K Run
The following roads will be closed on Sunday, May 10:
- From 4 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bayview Avenue will be closed between River Street and Mill Street and Mill Street will be closed between Tannery Road and Bayview Avenue.
- From 4 a.m. to noon, Yonge Street will be closed between Lawrence Avenue and Eglinton Avenue.
- From 6:30 a.m. to noon, Yonge Street will be closed between Eglinton Avenue and Front Street.
- From 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., Front Street will be closed between Eastern Avenue and Bayview Avenue.
- From 6:30 a.m. to noon, Front Street will be closed between Yonge Street and Eastern Avenue.

Horner Avenue
From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, Horner Avenue between Beta Street and Brown’s Line will be closed for filming.
Gardiner Expressway long-term closure
As part of the long-term construction plan on the Gardiner Expressway, a stretch of the westbound Gardiner has been reduced from four lanes to three. The westbound lane closure will stretch from Park Lawn Road to Grand Avenue in southern Etobicoke. The eastbound lanes along the same stretch will be narrowed, but with no lane reductions, from April 2025 to December 2026.
