Toronto Police Service (TPS) investigators have identified a man who was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in the city’s Carleton Village neighbourhood.

Authorities were called to the Osler Street and Davenport Road area near St. Clair Avenue West and Keele Street just after 5 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

TPS said an adult male was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has since been identified as Ikeba Fraser, 30, of Toronto.

There is no suspect information at this time.

Duty Senior Officer Phil Sinclair said the shooting occurred near TPS 11 Division, leading to a fast response from local authorities.

“It was very brazen, being so close to the police station,” said Sinclair. “It’s too early to say how many gunshots were fired. That is part of the investigation… We believe this occurred on the street.”

Osler Street was closed between Davenport Road and Pelham Park Garden for the investigation, but has since reopened to vehicular traffic.

Early indications are that the victim was targeted in the shooting, Sinclair said, but noted that it’s still early in the homicide investigation.

“[Residents] will see an increased police presence for the rest of the day,” added Sinclair.
