Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) will reopen to the public on Tuesday after unexpectedly closing on Monday due to a “mechanical issue.”

In social media posts on Monday morning, the ROM apologized for the inconvenience and said all pre-booked tickets would be automatically refunded.

CityNews reached out to the museum for more details, and in a statement, they said, “In the early morning, the Museum identified an issue with a small section of the safety sprinkler system … We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.”

Later in the day, the ROM sent an update saying work to remedy the issue was successful.

“The Museum will reopen for regular operating hours on Tuesday, July 15,” they said in the update.
