Ontario Provincial Police have reopened all eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 at Islington Avenue after they were closed for several hours on Tuesday for a police investigation.
In an update, Toronto police confirmed that a person in distress was later pronounced dead, adding that it was “not a criminal matter,” and that no further information will be provided.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said traffic is flowing again after the hours-long backup, but there’s still residual congestion in the area.
