One man has died in hospital after a house in Barrie was levelled by a fire over the weekend.
Barrie Fire and Emergency Services confirmed to CityNews they were called to Marshall Street, west of Bayview Drive near Highway 400, for reports of a house explosion.
A 45-year-old man was taken from the scene in critical condition and was later airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto, where he died from his injuries.
A neighbouring home suffered damage as well, but no other injuries have been reported as a result of the blast.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the origin and cause of the explosion.
