Toronto police have charged two men in a shooting in the city’s Entertainment District that sent one man to the hospital with critical injuries.

Investigators say they were called to the John Street and Adelaide Street West area just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

Zehavi Zynoberg lives across the street and witnessed the incident unfold.

“I heard a bang that did not sound like fireworks, so I went to look out the window, and then I heard two more,” he tells CityNews. “Then I saw some commotion happening, cars swerving, and I saw this guy, I’m guessing he was the one that was shot, kind of fall to the ground.”

Police say the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, but they were located nearby and arrested, and a firearm was recovered.

Mitch Rambali, 26, of Mississauga and Steve Ganesh, 22, of Toronto, are facing a combined 10 firearm and assault-related charges.

A third person who was originally taken into custody has since been released with no charges, according to police.
