Police in Peel Region are searching for a 46-year-old man in connection with the deaths of two people in their 70s in Mississauga on Thursday night.
Investigators were called to a residence on Briarwood Avenue, north of Lakeshore Road East and east of Hurontario Street, just after 7 p.m. for reports of an assault.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures at the scene and the man and a woman were taken to the hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.
Police later confirmed that a 70-year-old and a 71-year-old were pronounced dead.
Police say they are looking for the victim’s son, Jordan Sangwin, in connection with the incident, adding that he is considered “armed and dangerous” and should not be approached. He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for two counts of first-degree murder.
Sangwin is described White, with a medium build, short salt and pepper hair and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black duffle bag. He is known to frequent the Lakeshore Road area of Mississauga.

Investigators would not say how the couple were killed except to confirm that it was not firearm-related.
“We don’t believe he has a firearm on him, but given the nature of the incident, it’s something that we’re obviously concerned about and want the public to be aware of,” said Insp. Mike Mavity.
CityNews has learned through security footage that’s been handed over to police that the weapon used was either a baseball bat or a two-by-four, and that one of the victims was assaulted on the front porch.
“Based on the circumstances, we do not believe there is an immediate threat to the public. However, it is a situation we are constantly reassessing.”
Police have not yet publicly identified the married couple, but those who knew them are in disbelief.
“His wife called 911, we thought it must have been a neighbour, but it was her, and then she died. She died on the spot,” said a woman who identified herself as Susan.
Several business owners tell CityNews the couple have lived in the area for decades, and they’ve seen the suspect on a regular basis.
“He’s my customer, a regular customer, he’s a nice guy,” said Jerry Rai, owner of the nearby Old Bagel House. “I came here this morning, and somebody told me what happened up there. It’s heartbreaking.”
The owner of La Villa Bakery and Café says she saw the suspect having lunch on the day of the murders. She tells CityNews that while he’s normally very friendly, his demeanour was off, adding they received a strange phone call at the restaurant later in the day, which she believes was from Sangwin.
“Very odd phone call, very erratic, very mad,” said Angela Bozzo. “He said we made his day very upset because we didn’t serve him properly, and that he knew us for a long time, and that’s all.”
