Police are searching for at least two suspects after a man and a woman were seriously injured following an early morning home invasion in Brampton.

Police in Peel Region say the suspects entered a home on Brent Tree Crescent, near McLaughlin Road and Highway 407, just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and an altercation ensued with the occupants, with an unknown number of shots fired.

A man and a woman were taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. Police say their condition has stabilized to non-life threatening.

Investigators did not specify the relationship between the two victims, except to say they resided at the residence with as many as four other people, who were unharmed. It’s also uncertain whether the man and woman, and the suspects, knew each other.

Police say the suspects fled the scene, and the only description they had was that they were wearing all-black clothing.

“This is a time where we can really highlight the importance of awareness in your neighbourhood,” said Cst. Tyler Bell during an update on Sunday morning. “Everybody knows who comes and goes in their small neighbourhoods, like a Court like this. If you recognize anything that seems out of place, anything suspicious, please call it in to police.”

Police could not say if this home invasion was tied to any similar incidents in the area.
