A 49-year-old man is dead after he was injured in what’s being described as a workplace accident in Brampton.
Peel Police were called to 227 Advance Boulevard near Tomken and Dixie roads shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say the initial investigation revealed the victim was a tow truck driver who had arrived at an auto body shop and was in the process of unhooking a vehicle from the tow truck when the accident occurred.
“At some point during that process …our victim ended up underneath the vehicle, and the vehicle did run over him,” said Sgt. Taylor Halfyard.
Life-saving measures were performed, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate, and police say, based on the initial findings, this incident does not appear criminal in nature.
