A 24-year-old man from Oshawa is critically injured following a crash on Highway 427 in Etobicoke on Monday morning that forced the closure of a key highway ramp.

The collision, which was reported around 1:40 a.m. and involved a lone sedan, occurred on the northbound collector lanes of Highway 427 at Highway 401. According to the OPP, the driver was rushed to the hospital with life‑threatening injuries. No other occupants or vehicles were involved.

“Preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle drifted to the right and contacted the steel guiderail. The vehicle redirected to the left, crossed all lanes and struck the opposite steel guiderail,” the OPP said.

Police say the investigation continues and charges are pending.

The northbound Highway 427 ramp to the eastbound Highway 401 was closed for the collision investigation but reopened around 8:45 a.m.
