Three people were arrested in connection with a serious car crash that happened in Etobicoke early Saturday morning.
Authorities say an Acura carrying two teens and an 18-year-old male fled from police during a traffic stop just after midnight.
The Acura was later involved in collision near Carlingview Drive and Disco Road, west of Highway 27, that seriously injured three people. Their condition is non-life-threatening.
Authorities say the occupants of the Acura abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. They were arrested a short time later and were not seriously injured.
The province’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), has been called in to investigate.
Three SIU investigators, two forensic investigators and one collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the case.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
Toronto police say the three suspects were charged with at least six offences each, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possessing a firearm without a valid licence.
