Peel Regional Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and a second man injured in Brampton on Tuesday night.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Bayhampton Drive, near Castlemore Road and Humberwest Parkway, at approximately 8:41 p.m. following reports of gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, Peel Regional Police said officers located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was rushed to a trauma centre with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police say the homicide unit has taken over the case. Authorities believe the incident was isolated and there is no threat to public safety.
“This occurred inside the residence, and the suspects fled in a vehicle,” police said in an email to CityNews. “We do not have any suspect or vehicle information at this time, but we do believe this to be a targeted incident.”
Neighbours told 680 NewsRadio that four gunshots were heard on Tuesday night, adding that the home where the shooting took place has been the site of criminal activity in the past, including a vehicle that was set on fire in the driveway.
The investigation is ongoing.
