A 65-year-old man is dead, and two pedestrians were injured – one critically – following a multi-vehicle crash in Richmond Hill on Thursday night.

Police in York Region say there was a collision involving two vehicles just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Leslie Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, and as a result of the crash, three pedestrians were also struck.

One of the pedestrians, a 65-year-old man from Vaughan, was found without vital signs, and police confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second pedestrian was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, while a third person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The ages and genders of the two other pedestrians were not immediately available. It’s unclear at this point where the pedestrians were when they were struck.

The drivers of the vehicles remained at the scene and did not suffer any serious physical injuries, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
