A 33-year-old Markham man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after he allegedly struck two men with a vehicle in North York’s Flemingdon Park.

Toronto police were called to a parking lot in the Don Mills Road and Gateway Boulevard area around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday following reports that two people had been struck.

It’s alleged that the incident began when two men got into an argument, and one of the men got into his car and struck the other man. When he reversed the vehicle, he allegedly struck the second man.

“It wasn’t a random attack, there was some sort of interaction there, but for someone to then get into their car and then run over this person is alarming,” said Const. Vicktor Sarudi

One man, aged 50, was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, while a second male victim, aged 28, was treated on scene for minor injuries.

Edris Ghulami, 33, of Markham, has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and uttering threats.

CityNews has learned that Ghulami was out on bail at the time of the incident.

Ghulami was previously arrested on attempted murder charges following a February 2017 incident in which gunfire erupted in the hallway of a North York apartment building, narrowly missing two nine-year-old girls.
